Halloween Fun!

This year for Halloween Kai was dressed as Spider man, Noah was Thomas the train and little Emmi grace was a Love bug (ladybug). We did some fun trick or treating in the neighborhood around my parents home. The boys got more candy than ever! Takeshi and I are going to hide it all and ration it out over the next year! :) Enjoy the pictures!

11 months old...

Happy 11 month birthday Emmi Grace!

You are my little busy bee! 11 months ago you made me a mom of three!

I love your crazy hair and when you cry when a man walks by.

Your smiles and silly faces make us all laugh!

My favorite time of the day is in the morning. You wake up and say "dadadada".

At 11 months you crawl FAST and enjoy walking with help.

You love the stairs at nana's house but hate it when when save you from falling down them.

Getting your diaper changed is very traumatic for us all. You are getting strong. You twist and roll usually half-way through the diaper change you crawl away naked! Being held down is what you hate most!

We love you Emmi, just the way you are!

Our messy eater, our escape artist, our love bug! You give the BEST hugs! You even pat our back with your tiny little hand while you lay on our shoulder. These past 11 months we have all been blessed by YOU! I love you Emmi girl! We all love you!

Emmi's new chair & Kai's parent/teacher conference

Tonight Emmi was promoted to the big table! :) We strapped on a high chair to one of our dining room table chairs so Emmi can sit at the table with us. She loved it! I think she likes joining in all the eating fun more now. It also sure does make me feel like we have a lot of kids to feed! 5 sitting around the dinner table is FULL. :)

Today at 3:30 Takeshi and I went to Kai's teacher/parent school meeting. Takeshi said it's strange going to one of these meetings for your own child. Last time we went it was when we were the children being discussed. So strange! I totally agree!

Well, Kai is doing really well in school. His teachers said he is excited to learn and doing really well in math and reading/writing! The students all like Kai and he has lots of friends. The only thing they mentioned to work on is adding color and more detail to his drawings. He likes to get the work done and could take a bit more time with the details.... hmmmm..... sounds like mommy! :)

He draws pictures and has started writing in a journal at school. His teachers showed it to us. Oh I cried when I saw what he journals about! One drawing was of 18 months ago when we visited Whistler mountain in Canada. He drew Takeshi and Kai hiking up the mountain together. So sweet! He also drew about missing a friends birthday party because of really bad traffic. It was just so sweet to see life through his young eyes. To see what he thinks about, is sad about, and remembers most. I hope all his parent/teacher conferences go this well!

Bad Dreams...

Oh how I wish I could control my children's dreams at night!
My oldest, Kai, gets horrible bad dreams in patches. Sometimes in one week he will wake up 4 nights just shaking and crying. Sometimes he will go 2 weeks and not wake up at all. He is "sleeping" still. We can not really communicate with him while he is in the midst of the dream.

It's always the same situation: He goes to sleep and about 2 hours into sleeping (10pm or so) we hear him in his room crying/talking. We go in and he's sitting in his bed so sweaty and scared. He sometimes talks but it won't make much sense. Sometimes he points to something he sees and gets really worked up about it! His eyes are open but I know he is not awake. After 5 or 10 min. he yawns - this is always the end of it! The yawn ends the bad dream and he actually will calm, relax and talk to you awake and normal. Takeshi and I pray with him every night. This is so strange to us. Noah hasn't really had any bad dreams, just Kai.

Kai is the one with the imagination. He really likes to make up stories and act them out. I'm guessing it might have to do with his little mind not wanting to quiet and rest... ??? I don't know. I just hope Kai grows out of this soon. It is so awful to see him so tortured by fear when he wakes up!

Noah and the Pumpkins!

Today Noah visited the pumpkin patch with his preschool class!

Takeshi got to attend. They had a tractor ride, saw animals and picked out a perfect pumpkin! The sun was even shining - although it was still pretty cold.

Here are a few pictures of the daddy and Noah fun!

Sick Kids

Emmi and Kai are sick. :(
Kai woke up this morning with a 101.4 fever and sore throat. He slept a lot and layed on the couch watching t.v. all day. Poor little guy!
Emmi caught a cold. Her nose started running Friday evening and it's been non-stop snot since then. She has more teeth coming in so she is very cranky and awake a lot at night.

So far Noah has been spared but I'm pretty sure his turn will come soon.
The sick season is here! Welcome fall and winter, welcome.

My morning God time.

Paul wrote this book of the Bible, 1 Corinthians. My dad is speaking each Sunday about this book, going chapter by chapter. I read this passage this morning after my run. It really spoke to me and I wanted to share it. Paul is so clear! Telling your friends and family about Gods love for them is a "worth fighting for" way to live - never give up!

I heard on the radio something yesterday that stuck with me. "A relationship with our God (Jesus) is very different than any other religions or gods out there. All other religions teach about how to live a good life, how to earn your way into heaven, but not my God! My God comes to you, offers you His love and His forgiveness and grace, all we have to do is accept it." Oh the comfort and peace you feel when He is guiding your life!

1 Corinthians 9:19-27 (Message Bible)
Even though I am free of the demands and expectations of everyone, I have voluntarily a servant to any and all in order to reach a wide range of people: religious, nonreligious, meticulous moralists, loose living immoralists, the defeated, the demoralized, whoever. I didn't take on their way of life. I kept my bearings in Christ - but I entered their world and tried to experience things from their point of view. I've become just about every kind of servant there is in my attempts to lead those I meet into a God-saved life. I did all this because of the Message. I didn't just want to talk about it, I wanted to be in on it!
You've all been in the stadium and seen the athletes race. Everyone runs; one wins. Run to win. All good athletes train hard. They do it for a gold medal that tarnishes and fades. You are after one that is gold eternally.
I don't know about you but I'm running hard for the finish line. I'm giving it everything I've got. No sloppy living for me! I'm staying alert and in top condition. I'm not going to get caught napping, telling everyone else about it and then missing out myself.

Kai can see!

Kai got his glasses yesterday!

What a cutie he is! They are black little wire frames. He says that he is happy they are black because then he can still dress up like Batman in all black! We talked about how to clean them and how to fold them and set them down the right way so you don't scratch the lens.

He wore them to school and his classmates told him he looks nice - yeah! As a parent you think the worst may happen, someone might make fun of him or pick on him. I was happy his first day went well. He says he sees better. I watched him run and jump all afternoon in them with no problems. I wish his eyes were perfect but he is adjusting well Thank You Jesus!!!

A Busy Baby Girl

Emmi is 10 1/2 months! I really can't believe my baby is almost 1 and hardly a baby anymore. She is so busy, never sits still. She is very curious and wants to taste everything she comes across. She loves turning knobs and pushing buttons. While I fold clothes or clean the kitchen she is kept happy and busy by taking out all the contents of her favorite drawers! She has a few friends that attend our church. They visit our house each Wednesday and Emmi loves to play with them.

Having a daughter and a third child to love, is wonderful!

Girl Names and Boy Names

Funny Story:
Today at Kai's school his teacher read the class a story about a girl named Chrysanthemum. He was excited to tell me he learned that is a kind of flower! So that started off the discussion around the dinner table about how people got their names. He asked if I knew anyone with a name that was a kind of flower and

I said "Yes, my friend Heather has a name after a flower"
Kai - "Mom, was I named after a flower"
Me - "No, Kai only girls are usually named after flowers."
Kai - "Oh then boys must be named after fast space rockets!"

Ah I laughed so hard!
I love talking with my kids at the dinner table!

Hard Homework & A Hiding Place

This afternoon Kai had his normal sheet of homework and today... it was not fun! He had to draw 3 coats and he was frustrated that he could not draw them how he wanted them to look. He tried, and then erased.... tried again and then started to cry!

I tried to encourage him but he was upset. I know the parents are NOT supposed to do the homework (and I didn't) BUT I did hold the pencil with him and "start" the picture of the coat. It helped! He felt good about the drawings after that! I knew the day would come when homework was not fun, I just didn't think it would be over drawing a picture! :)

Kai and Noah wanted to play legos together! Emmi LOVES to destroy their fine miniature stories made out of tiny legos! So to fix the little sister problem the boys played Lego's in the "new room" and I closed the door. Oh Emmi did not like that. She stood at the door and screamed and cried for 5 minutes. She was distracted by a cup of juice left on the floor and left the boys alone to play in peace. At the moment the house is calm....

Lego Mini-build

Takeshi is gone for 3 days to St. Louis so I decided to take the boys to this months lego mini-build in Bellevue. We had to wait in line for an hour.... hard with little Emmi wanting to escape the stroller seat belt... ahhh! My mom came and that helped so much! Jason, Judah and Jocelyn came as well! This months build was challenging but Kai did it all alone! I did all of Noah's except for maybe 2 little pieces.... he is still young to do this. It was a fun full evening!

Family Game Night!

We just finished our Saturday family game night! The boys love playing Zingo together after our dinner is done. Tonight, Emmi stole the show with her wild (very boy) screams. Oh we were laughing so hard!!!! *Notice Noah's triathlon medal! So cute!

Noah

Today is Friday, my last day of the week with just Noah and Emmi at home.

I have really been enjoying my time with Noah during the week. He is my buddy to talk with and play with when Kai is gone at school. While Kai is very much into "Super Heros", Noah still loves to line up his little toy cars and race them around on the floor. He is still 3 and I love that! I often tell him to please please please stop growing up!

Noah loves to hug and cuddle still. He loves to sip his milk in the morning and hold his blankie tight. He is, so far, my strong willed child. If he decides in his mind he will NOT take a nap today... that is the way it will be! He hates to stop playing and go use the bathroom and screams when I make him. :) He is such a beautiful mixture of sweetness and defiance right now. I'm truly looking forward to what God has for his future!

Noah finished the triathlon with me almost 2 weeks ago. His face was filled with pride for 2 or 3 days following the event while he wore his own medal! Noah's name means "One who comforts" and it fits him. While I've adjusted to having Kai gone all day, Noah has been my little buddy. He talks to me all day, eats lunch with me and even folds the clothes with me. God has blessed me with my sweet Noah!
